Federation Square - The Centre of Melbourne

fedsquare.jpg Federation Square is a unique cultural and community precinct. The size of an entire city block the square was purpose built in 2002 as Melbourne’s meeting place.

Fed Square plays host to several of Melbourne’s top Cultural institutions including the Australian Centre for the Moving Image and The National Gallery Victoria - Ian Potter Centre.

The main plaza was designed from conception centred around a significant 38m2 public LED screen. This screen has been upgraded in December 2007 to a new 65m2 Barco screen. In addition to this main screen the square hosts numerous other indoor and outdoor public LED screens, interactive ticker screens and temporary projection screen installations.

The Venue - BMW Edge Theatre

The conference will primarily be taking place in the BMW Edge - a unique and premium event space within Federation Square. The walls are dramatically angled facets of glass set in a complex latticework of galvanised steel. The structure forms the background and general ambience of the space, which allows audiences to see out to the adjacent parklands and river beyond, lending an open-air quality.

The BMW Edge has two standard seating and staging configurations; a raised platform stage and an intimate floor level mode with a maximum capacity of 450.
