Day 2: Saturday 4th October, Public Screens and public space broadcasting: a new public sphere?

'CASZ | 362 days | 6516 hours | 219 artists showing 527 works | and counting'

Since October 5, 2007, 'Contemporary Art Screen Zuidas - moving images in public space' intervenes in the public space of the new district Zuidas that is currently in full development. With nearly 18 hours of motion art - up to 90 titles every day, CASZ presents the images and visions of internationally renowned artist and young talents on a 40 m2 urban screen, addressing a mixed crowd of managers and office workers, inhabitants, students, scholars and other passers-by of Zuidas, Amsterdam. The program is curated in close collaboration with international art organizations and offers a distraction as well as a thinking space against a backdrop of high office rising and public transport infrastructure - moving, inspiring images, allowing for different perception of the surrounding and the everyday, and inspiring a reclaiming of the public space.
